ROD A. COVEY, President, is an honors graduate of the School of Journalism, Ohio State University. He was a staff writer for Industry Week magazine in Cleveland, a reporter at a Chicago suburban daily newspaper for two years and has been published free-lance by Cleveland magazine.

Rod joined Covey & Koons in June, 1979 as a copywriter and was named account executive in December, 1979. He was named vice president in February, 1994.

He attended a Direct Mail/Promotion Workshop in Cleveland and was graduated from the Cleveland Advertising Club-sponsored Broadcast Industry Course. Several major advertising campaigns that Rod has written for C&K clients have won creative-excellence awards. He has also planned and written public relations campaigns as well as audio-visual and broadcast projects.

Canton Ad Club's "New Member of the Year" in 1982, Rod was elected president of the advertising club in 1984. He has served on the publicity and fund-raising committees of various community organizations, including United Way, United Arts Fund, Mental Health Association and American Heart Association.

W. RODERIC COVEY, Founder/Consultant, was graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in public relations. He joined The Timken Company in 1952 as assistant editor of the 28,000-circulation Timken Magazine. He was named editor in 1955, and promoted to assistant advertising manager in 1957. In 1966, he became account executive with the second largest advertising agency in Ohio, handling four divisions of Republic Steel.

He is a charter member of Buckeye Chapter of SDX, past president of Canton Advertising Club, and Akron Area Business and Industrial Editors, past board member of Industrial Marketers of Cleveland and an instructor in the 80-hour Advertising School sponsored by Cleveland Ad Club. He won three Freedoms Foundation Awards and several All-Ohio editing awards.

For 30 years he has been active in Canton civic and charitable organization (Boy Scouts, United Way, YMCA, etc.). He created a plan to raise food for Stark County Hunger Task Force with zero expenses for administration and fund raising. From 1987 to 1992, more than 5 million pounds of food were collected.

He founded Covey & Koons, Inc. in 1967 to serve business/industrial clients with a full range of marketing/advertising/public relations services. In 10 year, the company grew from zero clients to 25 clients, billings from zero to 5 million dollars.

BRADLEY J. FRAVEL, Vice President, Creative Services, is a summa cum laude graduate of University of Akron. Before joining Covey & Koons in February, 1992, Brad served as creative director with a North Canton advertising agency, and prior to that was senior art director at an Akron advertising agency for seven years.

Brad has won numerous Addy Awards, including two for television, and many other major regional and national awards for creative excellence in advertising.

With responsibilities that include concepts, design and layout of print advertisements, direct mail and collateral materials, Brad consistently produces innovative and effective work.

E. RALPH PLOTT, JR., Account Executive, is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, where he earned his B.A. in English. Before joining Covey & Koons, Ralph was Executive Director for the Building Industry Association of Stark County for ten years. He also held advertising sales positions at two Stark County daily newspapers for 13 years. Ralph's experience includes public event planning and coordination; creating promotional materials; and designing advertising programs. He was also a newsletter columnist and annual contributor to "Ohio Builder Magazine." In addition to managing several advertising/public relations accounts, Ralph handles a variety of writing assignments for Covey & Koons-including company publications, direct mail and collateral materials.

KATHIE COVEY, Office Administrator, attended Mount Union College and graduated from Milligan College in Tennessee where she received a B.A. in English.

She taught junior high and high school English for several years and most recently worked as a secretary and legal assistant.

Kathie is the newest addition to the Covey & Koons staff. Her responsibilities include personnel and financial management, media planning and account assistance.
